Back to 2017 Walmart Canada became one of the first Tesla Semi reservation holders, placing the preorder shortly after the electric truck’s unveiling was over. At first the amount of an order was 15 trucks.

Since that day the order volume was getting bigger, and finally transformed into 130 vehicles according to Walmart’s recent report. The company considers this as the part of a plan to go net zero in emissions till 2040.

Considering the deposit necessary to preorder one base Semi has risen from $5,000 (in 2017 after the unveiling event) to $20,000 (now), it turns out that Walmart already paid Tesla about $2 million of deposits, while the total cost of the deal may be over $20 million.
