While Polestar, Volvo and Geely subsidiary, already launched two electrified models into the market, Volvo itself has yet to make its move. Though last week Swedish automaker finally launched the production of its first electric car - XC40 Recharge.
⠀
Compact SUV looks almost identical to its ICE brother, though inside it is a completely new vehicle with all-electric powertrain.
⠀
Volvo claims the following specs for XC40 Recharge:
— 78 kWh battery pack
— over 400 km of range
— two electric motors with 150 kW of power each
— 11 kW onboard charger and the possibility to charge at 150 kW DC stations
— 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds
XC40 Recharge is already being produced at Volvo’s plant in Belgium. The company claims that factory to be a center of future high-volume EV production.
⠀
Moreover, Volvo claims that all XC40 Recharge that will be produced this year are already sold.
