Last week on of Volkswagen’s largest plants located in Zwickau, Germany, produced its last gas-powered car. Now the factory will produce only electric vehicles.

Volkswagen called it the historic day for the company. Now the plant is going to be modified to produce up to 330,000 vehicles annually (it is about 100,000 more than the today’s capacity).

After the modification Zwickau plant will produce Volkswagen, Audi and Seat EVs. First vehicles will get out of the factory in the end of this year - those should be VW’s new crossover ID.4 and new Audi’s SUV. Also, Volkswagen plans to train 8,000 Zwickau factory workers to work with high-voltage EV systems.
