Volkswagen opened the preordering of a new all-electric ID.3 hatchback in Europe on May 8. According to VW release, they have collected over 10,000 preorders in first 24 hours after start.

The €1,000 deposit is required to place the preorder.

Volkswagen also offers the special edition ID.3 1st, priced under €40,000 (while the base ID.3 starts under €30,000). There will be only 30,000 special edition hatchbacks produced, and their owners will have an opportunity to charge up to 2,000 kWh at charging networks partnering with Volkswagen (including IONITY network) during the first year of ownership.

Retrospectively, back to 2016 Tesla claimed to receive about 232,000 preorders for Model 3 with $1,000 deposits in first 24 hours. However, Tesla was collecting them worldwide.
