Earlier today Tesla held the Battery Day where Elon Musk personally showed some decent progress in Tesla’s battery technology. Even though some news may sound not so exciting, each of those has great meaning for the whole automotive future.
New 4680 battery cell:

— 14% cheaper in production due to its design only, further cost reduction is a subject of production optimization
— tabless design, cobalt-free
— improved thermal management
New Tesla model announcement:

— should be launched in next 3 years, along with new battery cells ramp up
— electric drivetrain cheaper than ICE
— fully autonomous vehicle
Model S Plaid:
— the quickest series production car ever made in terms of 0-60 mph acceleration and 1/4 mile time
— over 520 miles range
— 200 mph top speed
— 0-60 mph in less than 2 seconds
— 1/4 mile quicker than 9 seconds
— beats Lucid Air tri-motor prototype’s Laguna Seca record by 3 seconds
— available for order starting from $139,900
