Back to the Tesla Semi first unveiling event in 2017 Elon Musk believed the electric truck to enter production in 2019. However, the launch was moved to the next year.

The head of Tesla Semi program and Tesla’s President of Automotive Gerome Julien confirmed the revised timing last week after the Autonomy Investor day. The executive claimed that Semi will enter production next year, though now the company performs extensive road test with maximum load. Julien notes, that the project team is completely satisfied with the truck's performance.

Additionally, so far there is no exact information on Semi's production location. However, it is already known that Tesla plans to produce powertrains for the electric truck at Gigafactory 1 in Nevada.
