Tesla Model Y production starts now, first deliveries in March

Yesterday Tesla released their Q4 2019 report, followed by some news for shareholders as it usually happens. Obviously, this time all attention went to Model Y.

Tesla’s new SUV production already started - online configurator now suggests March 2020 as the estimated delivery timing for first vehicles. That’s also what Tesla shared in its shareholder’s letter, adding up that the production ramp up at the Fremont factory was made in January, several months earlier than expected previously.


Moreover, Tesla Model Y owners should be pleasantly surprised - Tesla engineers made to enhance the range expectations presented back to the SUV’s unveiling event last year. New EPA estimations showed the AWD version to go 315 miles on a single charge vs previous result of 280 miles. So now it turns out that Model Y is the most efficient electric SUV with 4.1 miles per 1 kWh of energy consumed.
