Tesla Model Y heat pump vs Tesla Model S resistive heating - snowy video comparison

21.04.2020

As we already learned, Tesla Model Y has a heat pump which allows to heat the interior with less power consumed compared to traditional Tesla resistive heating. However, how fast does it work? Or, to be more precise, is the heat pump more convenient from car owner’s perspective if the power consumption is now taken in account?

Youtuber DAErik tried to answer those questions with his comparative test. Model Y and Model S stayed outside at night and had equal amount of snow on them. The channel host turned on both cars’ pre-heating and checked how well it performed after 10, 30 and 80 minutes after start. The car having less snow on its body was considered as the winner, heated quicker and more effective.
