Yesterday Tesla released its Q3 2019 financial report, which included several comments on new models entering production phase.
When unveiling Model Y earlier this year Tesla first planned to launch its production in fall 2020. However, now it turns out first Model Y units may leave the Tesla factory next summer.
The company claims they are moving faster with deploying the production lines quicker thanks to the experience gained while launching Model 3 and building Gigafactory 3 in China. So now the process of bringing Model Y to production is going faster than planned.
Moreover, Tesla claims the total cost of establishing the new SUV production is to be approximately 50% lower than the Model 3’s.
Tesla Semi is yet another electric car to be launched in 2020. Back to the 2017 unveiling event Elon Musk claimed Semi to enter production in 2019, however, its finetuning asked for some more time - though, there is some evidence that the production version capacity will surpass the previously announced capabilities. At first Tesla plans to produce Semi in ‘limited volumes’, although the planned production capacity is 100,000 electric trucks annually.
