The expansion to other states is planned
Today Tesla launches its own insurance service, initially available for California-based Tesla owners. The company claims it to be up to 30% cheaper than competition.
Having a full access to its own database and technologies, Tesla may effectively reduce the price of insurance due to the Autopilot and other driving assistants.
So far Tesla Insurance is available only in California, though the expansion to other states is planned. Tesla owners may purchase the insurance via tesla.com/insurance
