Tesla’s integrated dashcam feature was introduced several months ago. The system uses Autopilot cameras to film everything around the car while driving as well as when the Sentry Mode alarm is on. It results a 360-degree overview with a good quality video, though so far there is a major drawback - it’s necessary to transfer the video to the USB-drive in order to watch it.
However, it seems that this thing is going to change. In early April Tesla launched the built-in video player for those recordings so far available only for beta-testers. The feature allows to watch the dashcam and Sentry Mode videos right on the central display when the vehicle is parked - simply tap the camera icon at the top of the screen and choose the video. All recordings from both dashcam and alarm will be presented on the screen. There will be four synchronous videos played from different cameras and it’s possible to set the main one.
Tesla did a great job on the video browser for the sentry/dashcam clips. Really like the UI. You get to see all 4 recorded cams in real time and select which one is maximized. pic.twitter.com/sdzDThaodV
