Gigafactory 3 quick construction and launch turned out to be one of Tesla’s wisest decisions. As far as its US-based factories had to stop (just as other automakers’ ones), Gigafactory in Shanghai continues to grow and increase its output since China rapidly took control over the COVID-19 spread. According to Tesla Q1 report, the company managed to deliver over 10,000 cars in China despite the market drop.
Moreover, Tesla continues to expand its Chinese production facility. The expansion is very time-limited also - Tesla plans to launch Model Y production in China by next year. The drone video shot this month over Gigafactory 3 shows the scale of the factory’s second phase - a new building will be connected to the first one and is as big:
