Tesla cars are 90% less likely to be stolen

In its recent report Highway Loss Data Institute published the research of vehicles’ makes and models being stolen most frequently. Tesla cars are on the top of hardest to steal. 


Experts found the easy and logical reason for such outcome. Even if a thief manages to break in and steal the car, it is easily being tracked via Tesla mobile app. 


Statistically, 97% of stolen Tesla in the US were returned to their owners. In Europe the statistics is a bit worse due to the last year’s series of Tesla break-ins through a relay attack. Though, Tesla engineers managed to release a new software shortly, containing a fix to the bug thieves used. Additionally, now Tesla vehicles have better key fob cryptography and a “PIN to drive” feature.
