Yesterday Tesla sent out invitations for the Plaid event, where first batch of Model S Plaid will be handed to their owners. The event will be held on June 10, and just yesterday Elon Musk shared some breaking news.

According to Musk’s tweet, Tesla cancelled the Model S Plaid+ trim which was expected to enter production next year. Musk claimed that car would have little sense, since the ‘regular’ Model S Plaid is ‘just so good’/

Well, Model S Plaid is expected to cover 390 miles and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.99 sec. On the other hand, Plaid+ should’ve been quite much better, with approx. of 120 miles higher range and 0-60 acceleration ‘quicker than 1.99 sec’. Though, Musk said that the 400 miles range is just enough since most drivers won’t drive such distance without the need of a restroom, food or other amenities that may be found by the charging stations. And considering the acceleration, we still don’t know exactly how much faster Plaid+ was designed to be than Plaid.

Finally, it may turn out so, that while preparing the Model S Plaid for production, Tesla combined two trims that may result some improvements in Model S Plaid specs. We will see exactly on June 10 - stay tuned.
