Today Tesla officially broke ground on its new construction site in Lathrop, California. That’s a new factory called Megafactory.

The new facility won’t be producing cars. Instead, it’s focus will be held on Tesla Energy products. Mainly, it’s about producing Megapacks - Tesla’s most recent and huge container-sized energy storage system with 3 MWh capacity.

So far Megapack units are being assembled at Gigafactory 1 in Nevada, along with domestic Powerwalls and commercial Powerpacks.
