We have already saw many cases confirming the Autopilot suite capabilities in recognizing various obstacles on the road. Yet another case happened recently to Dirty Tesla Youtube channel host and his Model 3.
While driving on the course with a small shoulder in front, Tesla Autopilot recognized the cyclist on the edge of the road and showed the necessary visualization on the display before the driver was even able to see the obstacle behind the car ahead. Tesla played the alert sound in advance and started to brake, while the driver was able make the necessary maneuver absolutely safe.
Even though we can’t call this exact case any kind of amazing, Tesla Autopilot reliability in recognizing pedestrians and cyclists is very important since the upcoming release of Full Self-Driving Capability allowing the Autopilot use in urban area.
