Rivian R1T is the electric truck frequently being called the main Tesla Cybertruck competitor even though both cars didn’t enter production yet. However, the competition between them already started - back to the 2019 when Rivian unveiled its first concept and announced $69,000 starting price. And reasonably after Tesla Cybertruck unveiling Rivian promised to lower it since the strong competitor was announced for muck lower price.
Finally, yesterday Rivian published R1T specs and refreshed price tags, stating that orders collection and configurator will be opened next week. By the way, the price didn’t drop significantly - R1T is still more expensive than the Cybertruck.
The base Rivian R1T Explore will cost at least $67,500 and enter the production in January 2022. The mid-tier Adventure trim is about to be launched at the same time, starting from $75,000, though being equipped with more interesting options like the Off-road package with reinforced underbody shield, two massive hooks on the front bumper and air compressor, ventilated seats, and special interior finishing. Finally, there will be a limited Launch Edition which is about to enter production in June 2021. It will differ from the Adventure trim by the special matte green body color, interior finishing and special wheels package - customers will have to chose between all-terrain R20 wheels and R22 sport wheels. R1T Launch Edition also will start from $75,000.
In the beginning all R1T trims will be equipped with only one mid-tier 135 kWh battery pack enabling 300+ miles of range. Later the automaker will add 105 kWh and 180 kWh pack for 230+ and 400+ miles respectively.
