Porsche Taycan Turbo specs are unveiled

There is no turbo, but you won’t regret it


Porsche Taycan official launch day becomes closer and there are new details coming almost every day, heating up the interest to Porsche’s first electric car. European Car Magazine managed to drive the Taycan Turbo version - one of the most expensive and fast In Porsche’s hierarchy.

Taycan Turbo is powered by a 96 kWh battery pack (enabling for about 515 km range) and has two high-performance motors - 215 bhp in front and 402 bhp on the rear axle. It is enough to hit 100 km/h in a bit over 3 seconds from standing still and than 200 km/h in less than 9 seconds. That means Taycan is not accelerating as quick as its main competition Tesla Model S Performance, but Porsche claims its power is at another dimension. According to its makers, Taycan is strong in maintaining such tempo for a long time without battery overheating.

Porsche claims Taycan Turbo is capable to accelerate 10 times in a row from 0 to 100 km/h or 4 times from 0 to 200 km/h without any loss of performance.

Car Magazine reports that Taycan Turbo will be priced at approximately $149,000. There will be cheaper versions - base RWD Taycan with 80 kWh battery pack for low $90,000 and middle-line Taycan 4S with 96 kWh for high $90,000. Though Turbo is not the most expensive - there will be faster Turbo S with total output of 724 bhp and the most extreme Taycan GTS version.
