Polestar 2 production began this week

26.03.2020

This Monday Polestar representatives (Volvo’s EV manufacturing subsidiary) claimed that Polestar 2 mid-size sedan production launch is scheduled for this week. It means that Polestar follows their promise stated in the end of 2019 despite the corovavirus outbreak - saying that the production should start in the first half of 2020.

Polestar is just one example of Chinese manufacturing quickly ramping their production thanks to effective government policy of fighting with coronavirus, while the US and European facilities are stopping one after another. Polestar confirmed no cases of coronavirus spotted among its employees and prepared all necessary procedures to keep clean of the disease.

As a quick reminder, Polestar 2 is considered as one of the most serious Tesla Model 3 competitor. The new EV is equipped with 78 kWh battery pack which is able to charge at 150 kW rate and provides about 280 miles range. Polestar is going to launch limited Launch Edition version at first for $68,000, which will be followed by less expensive trims at approximately $45,000 and more.
