After a decade from the incredibly successful electric Leaf debut, Nissan is finally launching yet another EV which have all chances of becoming even more popular. That’s the mid-size SUV Nissan Ariya.

Ariya is about 3 inches shorter than its fittest rival Tesla Model Y. Japanese electric SUV will be available as FWD and AWD model (the latter equipped with e-4ORCE system, distributing torque and braking power between wheels). Also, customers will be able to choose from 63 kWh and 87 kWh battery packs.

All-wheel drive Ariya will have three versions. Ariya 4WD 63 kWh has two motors producing 279 hp and 560 Nm, accelerating to 100 km/h in 5.9 sec and provides 340 km range. The middle one has 87 kWh pack and is more powerful (306 hp and 600 Nm), quicker (5.7 sec 0-100 km/h) and has higher range (460 km). Finally, the top Ariya 4WD Performance has 394 hp, 600 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,1 sec and covers 400 km on a single charge.

Ariya’s battery is liquid-cooled in each version. It may be charged via AC or DC stations up to 130 kW, though, Nissan claims some specs to be a subject of change before the launch.

Another thing Nissan claims is that Ariya is going to be a global model, present in many regions where Nissan officially sells cars. Ariya launch is about to happen in 2021, while the base version price is expected to be around $40,000.
