At the end of last week Electrek was told by anonymous source familiar with the matter that Tesla has chosen Austin, Texas, as the location for a new factory.
The source claims that Elon Musk already talked to the engineering team from Gigafactory in Nevada. Moreover, it is true that Musk wants to launch the new facility as quickly as possible: the aim is to start the Model Y production by the end of the year.

Obviously, first phase of construction would “cover” the main assembly line, followed by the expansion and production ramp next year. Tesla Cybertruck production should also start there by the late 2021.
