According to the information appeared in British media, Lotus Cars is preparing to transform into the EV maker.
Recently launched hypercar Evija (2,000 hp, £1.7 mil) became Lotus’ first electric car, while the next supercar the automaker is about to release will be its last petrol-powered vehicle. Lotus CEO Phil Popham told that it’s going to be relatively bigger than other Lotus models, and after that release automaker will direct its efforts at electric cars. The hybrid vehicles stage is missed on purpose - according to Popham, such cars are too heavy to fit Lotus philosophy. The next Lotus EV is expected to be released already in 2022.
