After several months of beautiful teasers and intriguing promises, Lotus finally unveils their first hypercar, also being its first all-electric car - a 2000 hp Evija.

However, not only the amount of horsepower is amazing here, but also the 0-62 mph acceleration in less than 3 seconds, 1700 Nm torque, limited availability (only 130 cars will be built), and, finally, the $2.1 million price.

Evija accelerated to 300 km/h in less than 9 seconds, that is considered to be the fastest among road-legal supercars. Thanks to 4 electric motors for such hot specs.

Lotus equipped Evija with 70 kWh battery pack, claiming 250 miles (402 km) of range. Lotus also promises Evija to support 800 kW charging - in this case 9 minutes will be enough for a full charge. Though, if we speak about today’s existing 350 kW chargers, the charging time is also impressive - 12 minutes for 80% and 18 minutes for 100%.

While creating Evija, Lotus utilized their rich experience of building fast and lightweight vehicles. For instance, its full carbon fiber body results only 1680 kg of weight, while the mid-mounted battery pack recreates the “mid-engine” configuration. To maximize the downforce, Lotus engineers used LeMans technologies - the air goes not only under, over and around the car, but also through its body via special vents.

Lotus will start Evija production in 2020, aiming for only 130 units being produced.
