Hyundai IONIQ 5 charged from 20% to 80% in 16 minutes - video

Hyundai unveiled the production version of IONIQ 5 electric car only several days ago. Last week one of pre-production vehicles was spotted in Germany by local Youtuber. He managed to film IONIQ 5 charging at the average rate of 157 kW, managing to feed the battery from 22% to 80% of charge in 16 minutes. Such charge rate provides about 10 miles of range in every minute of charging.

During the conversation with a blogger, Hyundai engineers claimed they witnessed the car charging at 220 kW at the peak. Though, Hyundai claimed that IONIQ 5 may charge at 350 kW, thus going from 5% to 80% in 18 minutes. However, it’s unclear why at this given situation the car was charging not so quickly. Probably, the automaker might limit the charging rate on pre-production vehicles, or the exact IONITY station was not applicable for 350 kW charging.
