Hyundai and KIA work on a next-gen solar roof for vehicles

Powerful enough to power the EV batteries.


Solar energy is a piece of candy for automakers producing electric cars. However, today there is no existing technology that is capable of making a tangible impact.

Korean Hyundai and KIA are reportedly working to change the situation - companies promise that their next-gen solar panels will generate enough energy even to add some range for electric vehicles. Additionally, they are expected to be transparent, creating a panoramic roof.

Automakers also add that the next-gen solar roof will be developed in three versions - for hyrids, ICE cars and electric vehicles. The technology seem to enter market as soon as next year.
