Reuters news agency managed to gather data from AutoForecast Solutions according the US largest automakers’ production plans for 2026. The data is based on the information automakers transfer to suppliers to plan their cooperation. The documents show General Motors and Ford to produce over 5 million trucks and SUVs in a given period, and only 320,000 electric cars. That is less than Tesla alone delivered in 2019.

Obviously, both GM and Ford are continuing to place their bets on gas-powered SUV segment despite the loud claims on continuous and rapid electrification of their models. According to data obtained by Reuters, automakers plan to produce 8 times more SUVs than regular cars for the US market, while 93% of those SUVs are going to be gas-powered.
