Both US giant automakers released official statements on continuous resume of manufacturing operations on their factories. May 18 is set to be the Day X.

General Motors claimed to be working closely with its union and local health officials to restart the factories. The majority of manufacturing operations in the US and Canada will be resumed with extensive health protection measures, including screening, extensive cleaning and social distancing.

Ford is also working to restart on May 18. Though, the company will continue to produce personal protection equipment - the production of those was launched during the quarantine.

In case if both automakers’ plans are implemented without major delays, its very likely that we will see new EV models from both (e.g., Mustang Mach E and a lineup of 10 EVs from GM) also without delays.
