Chinese Tesla Gigafactory story was incredible since the construction phase - it required only a year to build and launch the facility. However, Tesla’s achievements and ambitions in China are not over here.
Newest aerial shootings suggest that Gigafactory 3 should double in size throughout a year. Now the second part of a giant facility is being constructed and it is expected to be finished by Tesla Model Y production launch in China which is scheduled on 2021. Moreover, the expansion is necessary to increase the production localization - so far Chinese-made Model 3 has only about 30% of parts produced locally.
During the Q1 2020 report conference call Elon Musk mentioned that Giga Shanghai and Giga Berlin work will go in full speed right after the quarantine is cancelled. The video below shows the progress in Gigafactory 3 construction:
