It will feature a robotic charger
The station is a joint project of Electrify America (a part of VW Group) and Stable Auto.
The 150 kW charger will be deployed in San Francisco in early 2020. It is going to work without any human action required - the self-driving car stops at the marked area, and then the robotic hand automatically plugs the charger in.
Probably, the corporative fleets will be among first to try the new way of charging. However, the project team clarified that its main customers are self-driving taxi that are close to come on public roads.
