It’s not a secret for a while that all Tesla models in Performance trims may amaze by their performance, beating up even fastest supercars. Model Y turns out to be just as fast.
Tesla tuner from the US Unplugged Performance recently conducted several test rides at the Buttonwillow racetrack to assess new tuning kit it is preparing for Tesla’s new SUV. The kit consists of several suspension and braking modifications and lightweight forged wheels, and even with all those components installed Model Y resumes comfortable family car for daily drives. Though, those upgrades do the job of outreaching the vehicle’s performance - according to the test’s results, this family car may be faster than many gas-powered supercars on the racetrack, even those that are specially tuned.
During the Unplugged Performance’s test Tesla Model Y managed to finish the track lap in 2:01.9 - it is faster than Porsche 911 Turbo 997, and only half a second slower than 911 GT3 with track specification.
