Last weekend Elon Musk shared several details on next-gen Tesla Roadster in Ride the Lightning podcast.

First of all, Roadster will be not much important for the company from practical point of view, although serving as the brightest example of electric drivetrain domination over internal combustion. Musk claims Roadster is going to do ‘unfair’ things to other cars. Tesla aims here to make the best supercar overall and at any discipline up to the track use.

There will be a version with SpaceX package, carrying cold gas exhausters for additional acceleration. Musk claims the car to perform a 3G thrust - the same as space shuttle pilots experience. For comparison - Bugatti Veyron shows only 1.55G max.

Musk also forecasts to produce about 10,000 Roadsters annually. Considering quite low price of $200,000 as for supercar, we may expect a solid demand.
