Today BMW unveiled its new all-electric SUV iX at the online event. That is the production version of a car we saw on iNext concept images and camouflaged prototypes pictures.
BMW iX will be equipped with two electric motors with a total output of 503 hp. The SUV is also getting a huge 100 kWh battery pack. The drivetrain should allow it to accelerate 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds - more precise figures are to come closer to the production launch.
BMW claims iX to support fast DC charging from 200 kW stations. In such case it would need only 40 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%, while first 10 minutes should bring 75 miles of range. There is also a Wallbox charger for home installation with 11 kW of power that may charge iX to 100% in 11 hours. BMW iX is claimed to have over 600 km or 370 miles of range.
The iX interior is yet another thing to impress. It is designed in minimalistic ‘shy-tech’ manner when all controls are appeared only when and where passengers need those. The steering wheel is an absolute eye catcher with its polygonal form.
BMW iX production launch is scheduled for Q2 2021. BMW didn’t elaborate on its retail price yet.
