Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is being quite slow implementing their electrification strategy. They promised to introduce several electric models under various brands including Jeep and Maserati, though so far there are only two models currently produced - electric Fiat 500e and plug-in hybrid version of Chrysler Pacifica van for the American market.

Probably, Alfa Romeo may become the first one to expand that bunch. As the British magazine Autocar reports, Alfa Romeo is currently working on its first all-electric car. It’s going to be a compact SUV like BMW X1, Volvo XC40 and other vehicles of that class.

Italian automaker says the debut to be scheduled on 2022. However, there is one more premiere to be unveiled before that - it’s a bigger mid-size SUV Alfa Romeo Tonale (on the picture). Its concept was unveiled back to 2019 at the Geneva auto show.
