Yamaha unveiled a series of ‘plug-and-play’ electric motors for vehicles

Yamaha, Japanese company famous for its motorcycles, was working on its own automotive projects for a while, though those programs were shut down recently. However, last week Yamaha suddenly unveiled a line of electric motors for cars.


What Yamaha actually unveiled is a module devices, consisting of the motor itself and all necessary units to be assembled into a vehicle’s body and plugged into a battery pack.


Yamaha engineers also created several versions of the electric motor that differs by their power output, ranging from 48 to 272 hp. The company utilized its experience and technology of building motorcycles to optimize the drivetrains’ characteristics, making them light, compact and powerful. Moreover, Yamaha claims that the emotions of driving an EV are really important, so they worked intensively on the engine sound.
