Volkswagen works on a supercompact electric hatchback ID.1

A super-compact urban hatchback that would expand the ID lineup is going to be one of VW’s next electric models. The vehicle expected to be called ID.1 should replace VW e-Up in automaker’s lineup and will be based on MEB platform.

VW’s chief operational officer Ralf Brandstätter shared several details about the car with the UK’s CAR magazine. ID.1 is expected to be priced below 20,000 Euro in Europe. Also, the electric car would have two battery pack options - most likely, 24 and 36 kWh.
