Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron quattro and Jaguar I-Pace efficiency compared

Legacy automakers work to unveil their electric cars one after another. It’s not a surprise that each of those efforts is being compared to Tesla. Each model’s highs and lows are the subject to argue, though according to the real-world tests Tesla feels minor competition when it comes to the energy efficiency, that is absolutely crucial for the electric vehicle.

German car rental company Nextmove conducted their own test, comparing Tesla Model X energy consumption with all-electric SUVs of legacy automakers. They taken Model X 90D, Jaguar I-Pace (also with 90 kWh battery pack) and Audi e-tron quattro for a spin on German autobahn. All cars driven the same 87 km route with a speed of 120 km/h.

Model X was measured to consume 24.8 kWh per 100 km, that is the highest efficiency of three participants. Audi fell behind with quite a big gap - 30.5 kWh per 100 km, and Jaguar is the least efficient with 31.3 kWh per 100 km.

According to the data examinators assume, that under given conditions Jaguar I-Pace is capable to travel 272 km on a single charge, Audi will make 2 km more, while Tesla Model X 90D should be able to cover 339 km. Nextmove also tried Model X 100D on the same route (since 90D versions are no longer available), that showed the impressive result of 389 km.
