Last weekend Nismo (Nissan's subsidiary, producing racing and high-performance vehicles) unveiled all-electric racing car based on second generation Nissan Leaf. The presentation was performed at Fuji International Speedway during the annual NISMO Festival.

According to what is claimed by Nissan, the car features battery technologies and drivetrain components from a standard Leaf. However, LEAF NISMO RC is equipped with two electric motors - such configuration is unavailable for production vehicles so far.

The total output reaches 240 kW with 640 Nm of torque. The car's body is a lightweight full carbon-fiber racing monocoque, allowing to reduce the overall weight to 1,220 kg. The racecar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in about 3.4 sec.

Nissan claims that they are going to build six LEAF NISMO RC prototypes to deploy around the world.
