Mercedes-Benz showcases pedestrian sound on EQC

22.07.2019
This year many countries including USA and EU members started to require new rules for electric cars in terms of pedestrians safety. Now silent vehicles are obliged to have the noise generator to attract people’s attention.

The video below was made by Mercedes-Benz to demonstrate how this feature works on their new all-electric EQC. Automaker claims conducting a serious research to make the sound comfortable for passengers in the SUV, while being non-irritating and quickly noticeable by pedestrians.

Mercedes-Benz also explained that the sound differs on various markets - while European, Chinese and Japanese specs sound almost the same, the American version is different. For instance, according to the US legislation, pedestrian sound should be louder.
